Our vision is to prevent, manage and cure cancer so that all people live healthier, longer lives.
The Center’s overall Mission parallels that of our parent institutions, the University of California, Irvine and its health system, UCI Health: to DISCOVER, TEACH, and HEAL within the broad discipline of cancer medicine.
To facilitate and promote interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary cancer research across UCI. To develop new knowledge about the causes, prevention, detection, treatment, and survival of cancer that shift scientific paradigms, change public policy and clinical practice, and eliminate cancer health disparities.
To disseminate state-of-the-art cancer knowledge to cancer caregivers, patients and families, and the public. To train the next diverse generation of cancer researchers and care providers.
To deliver the highest quality multidisciplinary clinical care to cancer patients. To develop and sustain programs to alleviate the burden of cancer within our diverse community.
At the UCI Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (CFCCC) — Orange County's only National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center — patients receive compassionate and highly personalized treatment. The cancer center also provides patients with access to clinical trials and cutting-edge treatments as they are developed. At any given time, UCI is participating in at least 200 clinical trials, many of them developed by CFCCC members.
The Sue and Ralph Stern Center for Cancer Clinical Trials and Research supports the mission of the CFCCC to DISCOVER, TEACH and HEAL with the fundamental goal to substantially impact cancer research and improve outcomes in the Orange County catchment area and beyond. The Stern Center nurtures a culture of outstanding clinical research with clinical trials being the most important treatment option for all our patients.
